Thomas Terramani, MD
Thomas T. Terramani, M.D., is an expert in comprehensive vascular and endovascular patient care. He is one of the founding members of Vascular Associates of San Diego, which was established in 2005. He has extensive experience in the treatment of all aspects of both arterial and venous vascular disorders.
Dr. Terramani completed his medical degree, internship, and residency in general surgery at University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. He then completed a two-year fellowship in vascular surgery and endovascular therapy at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. At the completion of his surgical training, he moved to San Diego and continues to practice as a senior partner in Vascular Associates of San Diego.
He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in Vascular Surgery. Dr. Terramani is a fellow of the America College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.) and is also a member of the Society of Vascular Surgeons and the North American Spine Society. He has been involved in over 45 peer-reviewed medical journal publications and has authored 7 book chapter on the topic of vascular surgical care. His major area of interests is the surgical exposure of the lumbar spine. This includes the minimally invasive retroperitoneal exposure technique of the lumbar spine in the anterior, oblique, and lateral surgical pathways. He has developed novel retractor systems and pathways to the lumbar spine to aid in the safe and consistent exposure of the lumbar spine. In addition, he has been awarded a United States patent for a novel surgical retractor system used for the mobilization and rotation of vascular structures off the anterior aspect of the lumbar spine.
Dr. Terramani is committed in the management of patients with vascular disease, as well as, providing many of the San Diego County Spine Surgeons expertise in obtaining safe pathways to the lumbar spine for the management of various spine disorders.
