Unnati Sampat, MD

Unnati Sampat, MD, is a board-certified internist and geriatrician providing primary care through the Imperial Valley Family Care Medical Group. She is a member of the UC San Diego Health Physician Network.

UC San Diego Health Physician Network is an alliance of health care providers based in San Diego, Riverside and Imperial counties. Members of the network collaborate on developing shared systems, infrastructure and quality initiatives to provide high-value health care in the region.

As a primary care physician, Dr. Sampat provides preventive care and treatment of acute and chronic diseases for adults. She believes in individualizing care for each patient, and keeping perspective of each patient as a whole person when determining treatment. Dr. Sampat has a special interest in geriatric cardiology -- caring for older adults with heart disease.

An avid and award-winning medical researcher, Dr. Sampat has authored over a dozen publications. She serves as a reviewer for the American College of Physicians abstract competition, as well as for articles in peer-reviewed journals. She is a member of the American College of Physicians and American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin.

Dr. Sampat earned her medical degree in India, and completed two residency programs in internal medicine at Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai, India and Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA. She went on to complete fellowships in geriatric medicine at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA and cardiac imaging at UC San Diego Medical in San Diego, CA.

Dr. Sampat volunteers her time generously and is currently active in the Imperial County Local Health Authority as a physician representative on the Commission, is an elected board member for Imperial County Medical Society and participates as a regular member on the Quality Committee with the UC San Diego Health Physician Network
